FAQ's

Care instructions

  • Machine wash before use.
  • Dry Pail until washday in a waterproof bag or tub (open).
  • When ready to wash, soak in cold water for a minimum of 1hr with an eco laundry soaker/stain remover.
  • Swish around, rinse then add to normal wash (I recommend using a wash bag) with other clothes on a regular cold cycle maximum 30°C as hot water can set in stain.
  • Line dry as soon as possible, can be tumbled dry on low.

**DO NOT use fabric softener - this will ultimately affect the absorbency of the pad and will cause the pad to repel liquid**

**PADS WILL BECOME MOST ABSORBENT AFTER APPROX 6 WASHES**

(all fabrics have been pre washed for shrinkage prior to cutting and sewing)

Which size is for me?

I make 3 different length pads:

20cm (8") which is a closer in length to a liner, great for teens and women who don’t like the extra length.

25cm (10”) closer in length to your regular/super disposable pad.

30cm (12”) similar length to an overnight and maternity disposable pad.

The best way to decide what size is for you is to measure what you currently use as a disposable and see which size would be best for your needs :)

What absorbency do I need?

Choose Light pads if…

  • You normally wear a liner for every day wear.
  • You have light flow.
  • Typically use standard disposable liners.
  • Have light bladder leakage when you sneeze or laugh (happens to the best of us!).

Choose Regular pads if…

  • You have moderate flow.
  • Typically use regular absorbency disposable pad.
  • Have light bladder leakage when you sneeze or laugh (happens to the best of us!).
Choose heavy pads if…
  • You have a heavy flow.
  • Typically use super absorbency disposable pads.

Choose Overnight/postpartum pads if…

  • You have a super heavy flow.
  • Have  a heavy flow for overnight.
  • Typically use super disposable pads or maternity pads.

How do tell the difference between absorbencies?

I use a colour coded snap system to easily determine what pad you are grabbing.

How many pads will I need?

The short answer: it depends. How long is your cycle? How heavy is your flow? How often do you plan to wash your pads? These are all questions you need to consider when thinking about how many cloth pads you’ll need. In general, six to twelve day pads and a few night pads and lights are sufficient for most women. You can always start with just a few and add to your stash as you learn more about what works best for you :)

What fabrics do you use?

For the organic range our pads are made up of:

Outer layers:  Hemp 53% Cotton 44% + Elastane 3%

Absorbent layers:  Hemp 55% Organic Cotton 45%

Hidden waterproof layer:  PUL

For the custom range our pads are made up of:

Outer layers:  Cotton 90% Elastane/Lycra 5%

Absorbent layers:  Bamboo 70% Hemp 30%

Hidden waterproof layer:  PUL

I prefer to use Hemp or Cotton Jersey Knit for the outer layers, as the fabric is super soft and comfortable and feels just like wearing underwear.

Do you do custom and personalized orders?

I do make custom orders, all you have to do is send me an email and let me know what you are needing. You can also pop over onto my Facebook Page www.facebook.com/paisleypads where I have an album of in stock fabric to choose from.

Custom orders may take up to 3 weeks, but I always try to get out your order as soon as I possibly can.
